SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS -- Feb 14 -- Now there's even more help. Online dating sites are boasting they have uncovered the digital alchemy for amour, offering 'scientific' tests to help the lovelorn find their true soul mate. How good are they? We let four married couples try the tests at eHarmony, Yahoo Personals, Tickle and True. Each partner took the online personality tests designed to probe their psyches (fibbing a little to indicate they were single) and checked out whether the system matched them with their real mates. The results suggest that 'science' isn't always the last word when it comes to true romance.
The full article was originally published at Mercury News, but is no longer available.
I loved the idea for this article, and even helped one of the reporters with the story, but I was disappointed how the "experiment" was conducted and reported. To say it was "unscientific" would be a tremendous understatement.
I attempted to ask some follow up questions of the reporter and her husband who took TRUE's test to better understand their stated results (unfortunately, they reported some inaccuracies in the article), but so far they are not returning my messages. And here I had high hopes for "investigative" journalism!
All this goes to show that real science is needed to substantiate the claims of so-called compatibility tests -- as opposed to mock reviews by reporters, positive and selectively reported testimonals from clients, and most especially the mere word from those harking these tests. Consumers should ask one simple question: Does this test meet professional testing standards?
Thanks

Personality Test (like 16PF5 or CPpro) are very valuable:
First, to know oneself.
Second, to know the other person. -if you are authorized to access his/her report-
and
a "Personality Test Matching / Dating Method" is a great way to start a new relationship!
I think that Online Dating and Social Networking Market will require a collaborative environment to develop innovations in "Personality Test Matching / Dating Method" (eg: a group of engineers, psychologists, marketing consultants working togheter) in next 5 years. The future will be in applying border studies (frontier studies, a combination of different knowledge from different sciences)
Kindest Regards,
