OPW -- If you want to know the PlentyofFish story, here's an interview with it's Founder/CEO/CTO one man band Markus Frind. The site ran 2 million page views per hour at peak on April 11th, 40-50k concurrent users, on one IIS 6 server at 65% capacity.
The full article was originally published at Channel9, but is no longer available.
Oh no. Not that logo again!

Am I the only one who actually listened to this interview? 1 IIS server is a bogus claim. Markus admits all of the static content is served by Akamai. Akamia replicates all the static content across 20,000 servers in 71 different countries. You can see this if you look at the img tag source (http://pics.plentyofsite.com)

I said I served 30 million pageviews a day off one webserver. I didn't say I served 100 million plus image requests a day off my server.
Should be obvious, there isn't a single major site that doesn't do that.

Markus seems to deliberately refuses to share some important details about his server setup, for example the specs of his server and now this!
