OPW -- June 25 -- I've been reviewing a number of dating sites recently. I thought it would be interesting to see how many real messages a 28 year old woman in Tampa would get on the various dating sites. The test was run from April 24th to May 22nd, from Tampa, Florida. The subject did not send any outgoing winks or messages during the test. The excel spreadsheet lists the number of winks and messages received from other members. Also listed is a breakout of the messages that were sent as automated messages from the system. Messages that were clearly automated messages were not included in the number for 'Messages From Members.' TRUE and Singlesnet had a high number of automated messages, and a low number of real messages. PlentyofFish had the most real messages initiating contact. Here's screen captures of the profiles that were used - PlentyofFish, Lavalife, TRUE, Singlesnet, Match, LoveAccess, YahooPersonals and Engage. Download dating sites responsiveness test spreadsheet.
Let me add my two-cents worth regarding one site in particular ... Singlesnet.com. This site, in my opinion, is the ABSOLUTE worse. Please, all readers of this ... stay away from this one. It arbitrarily CENSORED my profile text!!!
Example 1) I wrote: "FAITH in god (with a small "g"?) and a universal "goodness" is more important to me than the blind following of ANY organized religion" ... they deleted everything after Faith in god!
Example 2) I wrote: "FRIENDSHIP is the most important gift one can give or receive (addendum - a true friend is the one who will pick you up (or drop you off) at the airport early in the morning even though you haven't been in touch for years!)." ... they deleted my entire addendum!!!
These were parts of a Top Ten list that I created to describe my beliefs, and they stripped the essence of my writing.
There were more, but these two were the most blatant and upset me the most.
So ... beware if you are a member on this site. Go back and double check your profile essay/text. It, too, may be missing some of your intended words or phrases.
