NEWS -- May 16 -- Legislation, sponsored by Senator Paul A. Sarlo, would require any owner or employee of an international matchmaking organization to apply for certification from the Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) and submit to a criminal background check to operate in New Jersey. The bill S1813 now head to the full Senate for consideration.
Hmmmmmm - nobody commenting on this!?!? :)
It's not like the US to create protectionist legislative policies - would be interesting to see how this will apply to online companies and how far the definition of matchmaking will go.
Is there an equivalent to the freedom of information act to find out who has donated to this particular senator? Would be interesting to see what is encouraging the senator to work on a bill like this.
Generally things like this are a great move - it'd just be easier if it could be country-wide rather than just for a specific state.
