TELEGRAPH.CO.UK -- July 17 -- Social networks such as Facebook are helping to inspire a boom in long distance relationships. The number of people who are seeing a partner who lives more than two hours away has doubled in the last 10 years to 14%. Three quarters of those in such relationships said they were easier to maintain through websites such as Facebook or MySpace where pictures can be shared and video phone calls via computer. 10% of the 2,000 people questioned for the BT poll said they were seeing people they met through internet dating or social networking sites.
