DAVID SIEGEL -- Nov 4 -- In 2005, I started developing a new site based on a new kind of matching engine for the marriage market. I had problems with my lead developer and had to stop development. I am now looking for a partner to take the concepts forward. The idea is to build a competitor to eHarmony that is free and advertising based. I have a great domain name - LTR.com, the interface is already completely designed. I have developed the matching engine but it hasn't been tested at scale yet.
The full article was originally published at David Siegel's website, but is no longer available.
Mark Brooks: LTR is a great domain, and David quite the visionary. Alas, this project has never quite gotten off the ground. Its always tough to find good developers. I've worked with ASE Soft in the past, to good effect. They built Adam4adam, myPartner, Mary, LookBetterOnline and PeopleFishing, among others. They're out of Romania, very reasonably priced and have lots of experience in the dating and SNS space. (Full Disclosure: ASE Soft is a <new> client of Courtland Brooks)
I thought LTR was dead!
LTR means Long Term Relationship.
How Mr. Siegel is going to substantiate his matching algorithm?
"Many people report being frustrated that eHarmony doesn't let them find the person they are looking for"
That is because the person they are looking for, is not compatible with them. If they want to search they could use Match.
"eHarmony has over 20 million members, with at least 3 million active members, each paying about $40 for four months of membership."
How Mr. Siegel can know that? eHarmony has less than 1 million active members.
"The idea is to build a competitor to eHarmony that is free and advertising based. "
PlentyOfFish tried to be the next 'free eHarmony' and failed. It is not about being free and offer more matches. It is all about high precision.

Hi all,
PlentyofFish.com seems to be doing great with its matching and coaching tools.
Thanks,
James Houran, Ph.D.

Hi,
I thought i should make small a correction here. I'm an Adam4Adam employee since the very beginning and no one here has ever heard of ASESoft. They've never been involved in A4A.
Thanks for mentioning us though :)
