OPW -- Dec 11 -- In spite of Match.com's assaults on the French market or other challengers such as BE2(Germany), Meetic is able to maintain a comfortable market share in France. Their CEO Marc Simoncini remains vigilant in his domestic market. He refuses to give up sub-segment niches such as VIP dating or Affinity Meetings (Common interest dating). As far as social networks like Facebook, it is estimated that their activities are "complementary"... we'll see. Other work in progress: Marc Simoncini announces for 2009 "a real mobile service" still in the online personals segment. - Translated by Pat Dines, CEO of Mary.com.
Hmmm - it sounds like they're beginning to acknowledge that whilst strong in their domestic market, Meetic is suffering in acquired markets.
DatingDirect.com seems to be really suffering in the UK - we've come up from below, eaten away Allegran and are now the third largest online dating company (and the largest private dating company) in the UK in terms of revenue - although I suspect we're only just slightly behind DatingDirect.com.
It's a real shame there's no public disclosure of UK dating revenues - the Hitwise service is pretty much useless when it comes to anything but traffic.
Match.com is still doing really well and I think between now and February we'll see significant TV advertising between them and eHarmony in the UK - both of which simply grows the sector market, driving people online to search for dating - where other dating sites can then acquire those customers motivated by the TV advertising.

Ross,
1. what is % of your revenue is adult . I suspect more then 65% . Datingdirect or Allegran do not have adult/casual sites so how you can compare ? Shall we really ask comscore/hitwise remove your adult/casual sites from the metrics?
2. WLD is dating technology provider... Or may be I have old information and WLD now own dating domains of your partners ?
Get other parallels - I hope you know that hosting company is hosting company only..
Of course you know ED love your company .
