Curious why a site that claims to have 30 million members and one that charges monthly fees would need to raise more money?

it is one thing to make a claim expressing the magnitude of your operation to attract new potential customers, but completely different thing to be honest.

I interviewed co-founder Alex and Shayan yesterday and the interview will be live by Friday. In short, the service is doing well because they autofill profile info from Facebook into the Zoosk dating profile, and they allow non-members to respond when paying members email them.
