LE FIGARO - Sep 13 - The two main shareholders of Meetic, the leading European dating site, confirmed that Messier Partners mandated to "evaluate all strategic options for the company and its shareholders." Among these options, Marc Simoncini, who still holds 22.98% stake in the company he founded, and Match Pegasus, which owns 26.72% stake, may sell their holdings. According to the statement released Sunday night, "no takeover bid has been received and any decision to sell was made". By unveiling half-year results in July, Meetic has confirmed his good health: the sequential growth stood at 10.6% in the Q2. Since the beginning of the year, Meetic shares rose 12.3%. MEET.PA shares
21 OCT 2007 Euros 31.43 and dropped to
17 OCT 2008 Euros 8.99 then recovered to
13 SEP 2010 Euros 23.41
Meetic and premium services as MeeticAffinity, MatchAffinity, DatingDirectAffinity, PartnerDE are in decadence since 1Q 2009, losing traffic and customers.
The IAC (InterActiveCorporation) owns 27% of shares.
Perhaps the other owners know Meetic is going to be GAME OVER soon and want to convert those shares in cash.

Sounds like sour grapes (as usual, sadly) from you, Fernando.
Are you ever going to start an actual dating site or just continue criticizing everyone else who has one?
We know, your matching algorithm is perfect. We get that. Now, if only you could actually *test* that assumption.
Orrrrr - keep criticizing.
Which one doesn't involve any effort?
Yep, long-live the criticism, folks!

For European dating: Alexa shows,
1) 12like and LittleHint are 2 failed proposals.
Those teams never understood how to innovate in the online dating arena.
12like uses (used) VisualDNA image test (a HOAX)
LittleHint offers GenePartner DNA matching as optative (another HOAX)
2) eDarling (cannot take off, it is stagnated)
3) Meetic and premium services as MeeticAffinity, MatchAffinity, DatingDirectAffinity, PartnerDE are in decadence since Q1 2009, losing traffic and customers.
4) ParshipDE is stagnated and Parship's other sites are GAME OVER.
5) Smartdate getting some traction only in France, perhaps in its efervescent period.
6) FriendScout24 new compatibility test (a new HOAX in the Online Dating Industry for serious daters); in decadence since Q3 2009, losing traffic and customers.
7) Be2 GAME OVER
8) eHarmony UK stagnated
There are over 100 million singles in USA and Canada and over 100 million singles in Europe
WorldWide there are more than 5,000 online dating sites but they have less than 5 million persons as paid members. The Online Dating Market remains enormous!
The 2010 is the year of Online Dating Fatigue, daters ARE leaving in droves from old paid sites like Match, Chemistry, True, eHarmony, PerfectMatch, Be2, Parship, Meetic, etc.

Sigh. Why do I even bother? You missed my point entirely. I'd say it was a language issue, but I don't think that's the case. I think it is actually just plain old SOUR GRAPES that no one is interested in your fool-proof matching algorithm.
Sam
P.S. You seem to like the word "HOAX", as you use it a lot. So, was 9/11 an inside job?;-)
P.P.S. You are just way too easy a target....:-)

Have you seen that Be2 collapsed this year?
It is game over now.
(Index Ventures had invested Euros 15 million in Be2 during 2008)
Have you seen Parship and FriendScout24 are collapsing?
Have you seen 12like and LittleHint are 2 failed proposals?
Have you seen eHarmonyUK is stagnated and eDarling cannot take off?
Have you seen Meetic (and all its sites) is also collapsing?
Meetic (MEET.PA) is a Public company, you can trace its shares.
Its Market Cap. is Euros 528.85 Million.
The IAC, InterActiveCorporation owns 27% stake in Meetic.
I seriously doubt the IAC could acquire more shares in Meetic, the IAC had retired from Europe.
Those teams really never understood how to innovate in the online dating arena!!!
