TECH CRUNCH - Feb 2 - IAC’s Match.com is continuing its acquisition strategy today with the purchase of OkCupid for $50M in cash. The deal also includes future earnouts contingent upon performance. OkCupid, which has raised $6M, was co founded by Max Krohn, Sam Yagan, Chris Coyne and Christian Rudder. Match has previously acquired dating site People Media for $80M and most recently Singlesnet. Yagan will continue to operate OkCupid. FULL ARTICLE @ TECH CRUNCH
Wow, no-one expected that. Congrats to the team.
Free, quality dating sites like OKCupid are very unique. Good for traffic to Match.com I guess. I hope the OKCupid team continue to give interesting dating insights on their Blog (OkTrends) http://blog.okcupid.com - Maybe on Match's data this time :)

This is a great acquisition for Match. Singlesnet wasn't a strategic acquisition. This most definitely is. The addition of the OKCupid team to Match.com's brainpower will be significant.
