BUSINESS INSIDER - June 1 - Beri Meric and Phillipp Triebel, cofounders of IvyDate, raised $1.5M in funding from a bunch of angel investors, including some un-named investors that have put money into Spotify, Uber, and Facebook. IvyDate is an exclusive online dating club with an admissions committee that decides who can and who can't be part of the community. 30K people have so far been given the nod.

There's lots of money in the high-end of the internet dating market. Some people have time to use dating sites. Others have money, and want to cut to the chase and meet similarly 'high-end' people.

Saw that this company is pivoting to events. Its obviously a lot easier to generate quick revenue for events, than waiting around for people to click on profiles. I don't think the founders realized how difficult and how must ad spend is required to obtain paying members for online-only sites, especially for a small niche of customers. HowAboutWe seems to also pivoting away from the dating site, to more couple's products.
