THE NEXT WEB - Aug 31 - IAC today announced its acquisition of DateHookup.com, a free dating site that claims 1M unique visitors per month. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. DateHookup was founded by CEO Dustin Weirich in 2002 and has grown to become the 6th most-trafficked free online dating website in the US.

Wow, looks like IAC has quite the portfolio now with this and OkCupid in their hands. I wonder if their going to merge services since their basically both the same thing as they were competitors in the free site arena.

Datehookup is seeing a couple million USA uniques a month according to Compete. http://siteanalytics.compete.com/datehookup.com/
They're a key competitor to Plentyoffish.com.
Match is pricing based on lost revenues, more than actual revenues, I think.

They lost out, they could have bought Dateolicious.com and not only have a free online dating site that is growing fast, but also use the name on all sorts of products.
