MERCURY NEWS - Nov 23 - ~25% of online daters met a spouse or long-term partner through a dating site. Another study finds couples who meet online are twice as likely to get married than couples who met offline. All this connectivity can come with a cost. We're stumbling at staying focused on the people who are physically closest to us. One British divorce lawyers' website claimed in 2011 that Facebook played a role in a third of all divorces.

Hi Mark, i disagree with some of what she written. While on the surface that might seem to be correct statements, if we look deeper, some of it is misleading.
While offline a woman might go to an event and meet few guys in a day and it will result in one or two dates per event. Online that very same woman will get 100s of views and likely dozens of messages daily, and she can have date every day if she wants too. This distorts perception of value of each date, each date becomes more disposable. We are seeing women moving away from online dating and more into offline scene, but we don't think it will ever be large movement. Online dating is just too easy and instantly gratifying not to do.
A large problem we are seeing as dating coaches, are people (especially men) who do online dating, are much less likely to go back offline. Online is so much easier and gives instant gratification, that going offline after online dating is often time seems too much hassle. We are seeing this problem more and more. Especially men, who have to approach. Even bad/low results from online dating will still be chosen by a male client over going to an offline event.
Will see how dating field continues to evolve, but it certainly throwing some curve balls.
