CNET NEWS - Aug 30 - Everyone's got secrets, and the co-founder of the secret-sharing app Secret, David Byttow, believes that most people want to share them. The app promises anonymity as users share secrets with their friends, friends of friends, and strangers. Since it went public in February, ~20M people have signed up. Secret has caused controversy already. The app was banned in Brazil, where the constitution explicitly prohibits anonymous free speech. Secret isn't promising to protect its users' identities from the law, and a recent hack demonstrated how Secret's pseudonymity could be exploited to uncover the identity of a Secret poster.

Mark Brooks: I guess Online Personals Watch is like Brazil. We don't allow comments that are anonymous and derogatory. Someone's reputation should stand behind comments on OPW. If its not yours, its mine, so I prefer that seriously negative comments be deleted generally. What's your thoughts? I think there are venues for anonymous and derogatory commentary, just not on sites intended for time-starved professionals, analysts and the press.
