OPW - Apr 1 - Just because you’re dead, it doesn’t mean that the fun has to stop. At least that’s what a couple of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs are aiming to prove with their new dating app, Afterlove. The app allows users to get a jump on finding love in the afterlife by swiping through archived obituaries in search of their perfect partner for their eternity.
“Users start by designating whether they think they are going to heaven or hell,” said co-founder Eugene Mushnick, “after all, it would stink if you picked someone to share your afterlife with and then you find out that you aren’t even going to the same final destination.” After that, the users just pick the time period that they find most attractive and then all they have to do is swipe through their search results until they find the dead person they’d like to meet.
Though the app doesn’t officially launch until this October, Mushnick and his partner, David Peartree have already been approached by several companies including Facebook and IAC Match with an eye towards acquisition.
