WAMU.ORG - Oct 4 - Matchmaking service for muslims, BeyondChai, says membership has grown by 45% in the last 6 months, with ~ 10K active members nation-wide. BeyondChai attributes the bump in clientele to President Trump's comments about Muslims and terrorism. Co-founder Asad Ansari says all of that instilled fear in the Muslim community. Another service, called Eshq, launched on November 9, 2016, the day after the election. That's no coincidence, says founder Mariam Bahawdory. "It was more of a way to get everyone's mind off of that negative aspect that all this brought on during the presidential election," Bahawdory says. On Eshq, women make the first move.
