AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL REVIEW - Fitafy founders Stephen Mansfield and Cem Miral say they want to change the online dating game and place health and wellbeing at its core. They came up with the idea during a post-workout coffee. "The topic came up about why there isn't a dating app like Tinder, but for fit people," says Mansfield. "So we did the research to see if there was anything like it on the market and there was nothing." The company now has five shareholders including the founders, employs seven people, and has raised $2.5M in seed funding, with plans to close a Series A funding round in mid-2022. The app has been rolled out across Australia and Britain, with other countries to follow. Fitafy is free, although subscriptions starting at $39 a month unlock additional features. The app also syncs with fitness-tracking apps including Strava, Fitbit and Apple Watch, so that others can see each other's fitness progress.
