TELECOMPAPER - July 29 - French data protection agency CNIL has served notice to eight dating sites including Meetic, Attractive World, AdopteUnMec, Easyflirt, Rencontre and Mektoube after an investigation revealed a number of breaches of privacy. The sites did not ask for permission to collect sensitive data.

01AMOUR - May 26 - Dating site AdopteUnMec.com, the French version of CheckHimOut.com where women are in full control, generated revenue of Eur 16M according to its director of marketing Thomas Pawlowski. The site has 5.7M registered users and 650K active members every month. AdopteUnMec.com is free for women and the male/female ratio is 50/50.

AdopteUnMec Launches A Store Where Men Are On The Shelf
DAILYMAIL.CO.UK - Sep 12 - Online dating site AdopteUnMec.com (AdoptAGuy.com) has opened an online store in which men are quite literally on the shelf. The travelling shop, which will be open in Paris for the next ten days before going to Brussels, Lausanne, Toulouse and Lyon, is showcasing single guys by putting them on display inside human-sized toy boxes. Women in the French city are flocking to the store to ogle the male models as they show off their best assets. AdoptAGuy.com, a dating site which allows men to ‘advertise’ themselves as potential partners, has been hugely popular since it launched in 2010, with a reported 25K signing up in the first year alone.

AdopteUnMec.com: The Dating Supermarket
OPW - Mar 5 - AdopteUnMec.com (literally "adopt a guy") is based on the idea that women are in charge and can choose among an offer of me. The site was founded by Florent Steiner and Manuel Conejo in 2008 in France. Upon free subscription, women can browse the latest male profiles ("deals of the day") and choose among the many "product categories" that also include a bonus section with options such as "body art", "bisexuals" and "good cooks". Men can register for free and get in touch with the "new clients" featured on the homepage if they'd like. However, only privileged (and fee paying) members are allowed to login during the highly coveted 6 pm to 1 am time slot. Subscription for men over the age of 23 is 1€ a day (for a minimum of 30 days) and 3€ /7days for men under 23.
