DAILYMAIL.CO.UK - Aug 13 - Dating website BeautifulPeople.com accepts members based on their looks, and is now offering plastic surgery advice to those who are unsuccessful. The advice is from a plastic surgeon and costs $45. BeautifulPeople.com came up with the idea after its own founder, Greg Hodge, 43, was rejected by members. Mr Hodge, who founded the site in 2003, sent his photo to a surgeon and asked for honest feedback on his appearance. The surgeon recommended that Mr Hodge have Botox.

ITPRO.CO.UK - May 9 - The Ashley Madison attack in July 2015 revealed the sensitive data of 37M people. Adult Friend Finder was also hacked, with the personal details of 4M users leaked, including their IP addresses and dates of birth. More recently, BeautifulPeople also had their details leaked online. "Dating sites contain a very high level of personal information, which can be very valuable in the wrong hands and quite damaging for those involved," said Rob Norris, director of enterprise and cybersecurity for EMEIA at Fujitsu. Are dating sites targeted more frequently than other sites? According to David Emm, principal security researcher as Kaspersky Lab, the answer is not necessarily. "Dating sites certainly draw a lot of media interest," said Emm. "Hacks happen to other sites but is a less newsworthy story."

Beautiful People originally claimed the content was from a test server but Mr Vickery said the data itself was still genuine.

FORBES - Apr 25 - Sexual preference, relationship status, income, address - these are some of the details applicants for the controversial dating site BeautifulPeople.com are asked to supply before they are judged by the existing user base, who vote on who is allowed in. Thanks to the leak, all of this info is now public. The leak also included 15M private messages between users. The data is now being sold by traders.

DAILYMAIL.CO.UK - Mar 12 - Last week it was revealed that BeautifulPeople.com had expelled ~3K people for not maintaining the appearance necessary to meet the high standards expected on the site. The move angered outsiders who disagreed with the site's selective policy. The 'Ugly' troll attack originated in Russia where ~2,700 applications were made to the site in a few hours. Over half of these were fake profiles and part of the ugly troll army.

CNBC - Mar 1 - 9 out of 10 applicants to BeautifulPeople.com are turned down. So the site has introduced a mentoring software called "Adopt an Unattractive Person." In the new system, BeautifulPeople customers ranging from stylists to therapists volunteer to mentor candidates on how to be extra, properly, attractive. Mentoring is presently free, but might be monetized in the future.

ABC NEWS - Feb 7 - On BeautifulPeople.com, new users are allowed to upload one photo. If the photo doesn’t get enough votes from the site's members in the first 48 hours, the user is kicked off. Some people who were rejected from the site decided to get work done, and then returned to the site. Sal Vance said he spent $10K on his teeth before signing up. BeautifulPeople.com launched in Denmark in 2003, and has since gone global with 800K members. The acceptance rate is ~30%.

It is readying a recruitment feature for employers wanting to hire "good-looking staff." Employers will have a dedicated business profile and be able to pursue other members who are looking for a job. Members will also be able to look through job listings and apply directly to companies. Although this sounds vain and even discriminatory, it's no secret that certain companies want to hire attractive candidates to represent the brand.

The police squad, made up of one woman and one man, will assess people at the door to see if they match up to their online profile pictures. In 2010, the site expelled 5K members for gaining weight over the holidays. The site boasts ~750K members and new applicants must undergo a 48-hour democratic rating process before joining.

Miss Seychelle appears in the dating site's nativity scene and attracted hordes of male fans. Controllers at eBay pulled the listing – complaining it contained "adult content". Greg Hodge, managing director of the site, said: "eBay accused us of posting adult content onto their website – but we simply uploaded portrait photos of our nativity stars as they appear on our home page in the hope we'd raise money for charity.
