70 Percent Of Flirtomatic Downloads On GetJar Convert To Active Users
PRESS RELEASE - Oct 29 - Flirtomatic, a social mobile service used by 18–30 year olds, has achieved 70% conversion rate using GetJar’s Pay-Per-Download (PPD) solution. Flirtomatic had one million downloads and the growth has been impressive for Flirtomatic's new Android app, which was launched in June of 2010. During that month, GetJar managed 12% of all downloads for the Android app and in July, GetJar generated 19% of all downloads. WSJ - July 14 - According to Handmade Mobile Entertainment, the operator of online flirting network Flirtomatic, more and more people want to use the computer and mobile phone for quick, romantic fun, rather than to merge their soul with another.Handmade Mobile raised a $9M Series C round. Juniper Research has estimated the market will grow to ~$1.4 billion in revenue by 2013. Other services include MeetMoi, which is tied more to a user’s mobile location, and BigCafe, which rewards members the more they play with points and “coins” used to send virtual gifts. Flirtomatic’s goal is to make it as easy as possible to meet others through a mobile device. A user can sign up and begin flirting with the 2.7M registered members in less than a minute. DAILY FINANCE - Oct 6 - Flirtomatic, a mobile flirting social-network, has attracted $15M in revenue by selling flirting and virtual goods, like digital ice cubes. "You can't really call it a dating service, because very few of our users ever meet in person," says Mark Curtiss, CEO of Flirtomatic. "We're more like a social network for fun." Flirtomatic is pulling in $12 per month from 175,000 paying customers on seven major carriers in the U.K. Germany, and Australia. Flirtomatic splits revenues from sales of virtual goods with the wireless carriers. It has raked in $11M in venture backing to date and expects to turn a profit by next year. Mobile Entertainment Seeking Players And Payment
REUTERS -- July 8 -- Online entertainment has increasingly moved to the mobile handset. According to the trade association Mobile Entertainment Forum, the global mobile entertainment industry is now worth $32 billion. The industry also remains confident that it can continue to grow strongly despite the current economic challenges, predicting average revenue growth of 28 % for 2010. CCS Insight analyst Paolo Pescatore believes the most popular sites such as Facebook might struggle to charge on mobile as users would still expect the service to be free. Other services that could prove to be successful will be those which offer a core aspect for free and then charge a small fee for premium content. One online and mobile service that has followed this route is Flirtomatic, a fun dating social network that allows users to post their profiles and rank each other from "freak" to "off the radar." Orange Opens Up Mobile Social Net Service
GUARDIAN.CO.UK -- July 9 -- Orange has launched a major push for mobile social networking in the UK today, introducing a service which aggregates users' accounts across the major social networks. Launched as a trial in France last month under the name MySocialPlace, Orange has now partnered with the biggest social networks - Facebook, MySpace and Bebo - to introduce the service in the UK under the Orange World branded website. UK users can also access the chat service Flirtomatic and the photo-sharing site Pikeo, while Orange customers in France can use the Skyrock community, DailyMotion video site and dating service Meetic. Data from Nielsen Mobile in May showed that 44% of UK mobile phone users have registered with a social networks, and estimated that 1.7% of users, or 812,000 people, had accessed those services from their mobile.
