DAILY STAR - July 19 - Extra-marital dating site MaritalAffair.co.uk is running a promotional contest where the prize is the company covering the legal fees for a divorce. The site has come under fire from family campaigners such as the Chrisitan Voice for profiting off of the collapse of people's marriages. Office of National Statistics figures show that the UK's divorce rate is 200 times higher than it was 100 years ago.

DAILY MAIL - Mar 20 - Bored housewives are behind a surge that has seen more than one million Brits signing up to extramarital dating websites to have an affair. Figures show up to 400K unique users are logging on each week in the hope of committing adultery. One of the largest websites MaritalAffair.co.uk claims to have ~600K members. AshleyMadison.com said it received a new British member every 45 seconds. ~150K Britons use the site each week. The company said it acquired ~10K new users the day after Valentine's Day, and most of them were married women.

THE INDEPENDENT - Jan 4 - According to extra-marital dating sites such as Illicit Encounters, Lovinglinks.com and MaritalAffair.com, the start of the year is the time most married men and women will sign up to commit adultery. IllicitEncounters .com, is expecting a 300% rise in new members this week having previously discovered January 4 to be "the most adulterous day of the year". "Christmas and New Year are times when couples spend an intensive period of time with each other and their families," explains extra-marital expert and spokeswoman for Illicit Encounters, Rosie Freeman-Jones. "This can be quite claustrophobic and sometimes leads to a 'cabin fever' situation where both parties feel irritated with each other and cracks in the relationship start to surface. Illicit Encounters alone has 43,000 Irish members.

BBC - May 13 - A billboard for MaritalAffair.co.uk, drew the 4th most complaints for 2010, ranking behind ads featuring animal cruelty, abortion and global warming. The advertisement, which featured a man's naked torso with a woman's bra draped over his shoulder, read “Hello Girls.” The 420 complaints claimed the ad implied extra-marital affairs were acceptable and desirable. The claims were not upheld.

TIMES ONLINE - Oct 29 - Forget Dinner is one of three dating sites — the others are called Marital Affair and Simply Adult — that describe themselves as for broad-minded adults wanting “fun” to meet. Almost all members are married and say that they are not getting enough excitement at home and feel that time is running out. “If you go through your forties without having an affair or even getting close, that’s extraordinary,” says Susanna Abse, a clinical psychotherapist. 115,200 divorces were granted in the UK in 2008. Adulterous behaviour accounted for 29% of all cases. 24% of married men, asked if they would cheat on their partner if there were no possibility of being found out, said yes and only 9% of married women said that they would consider an affair.
