MIRROR.CO.UK - May 2 - DNA testing has become the modern-day method for determining everything from a person's ancestry to their likelihood of getting certain illnesses. Scientists have claimed that our genetics also play a vital role in how attracted we feel towards a potential mate and how well-suited we are to them. GenePartner provides special DNA tests to determine just this. The clinic was founded by Dr Tamara Brown and Joëlle Apter. "People need to match both socially and biologically," explained Dr Tamara. "It is possible to find out both when meeting of course, but the number of singles searching for partners online has increased dramatically. In this virtual world, chemistry is something we cannot sense. That's where DNA testing can help. If you are a strong biological match, it goes a long way towards lasting happiness," she says.

MIRROR.CO.UK - Feb 6 - In his assessment of GirlsDateForFree.com, supposed expert Robert Bailey wrote: "Wherever there is a lot of women, men will follow. Bailey gave GirlsDateForFree 3 stars on the review site leadingdatingsites.co.uk, which said: "We've researched in depth the best and most used dating websites in UK." According to leadingdatingsites, Bailey is one of the top opinion makers in the media and has been researching online dating since 2007. But it turns out he is as fake as some of the people apparently seeking love online. The picture of Robert Bailey which leadingdatingsites.co.uk uses is in fact David Burnett, a former law student at Sydney University in Australia who died in an accident in 2008. Leadingdatingsites suddenly removed the pictures of Robert Bailey. It replaced the shots with ones of Henning Wiechers, the CEO of Metaflake, the German company which owns the website.

MIRROR.CO.UK - Oct 9 - Singer Wayne Denton tried AnastasiaDate.com, a Ukrainian online dating site, and found himself a new wife almost half his age. Wayne had to pay to send her a message and to read emails she sent him. If he wanted to see any pictures she sent, he had to pay for them as well. Wayne had a niggling doubt that it could all be a scam. The agency offered a video date service. “It cost £30 for 10 minutes and because she didn’t speak any English we had to use a translator. "The 10 minutes turned into 40 minutes, which was expensive." After two months and £500 spent talking to Iuliia online, Wayne decided to meet her and flew to her home city of Mariupol in October 2010. At the end of his second visit he proposed and Iuliia accepted.

Farmers are waiting for dates on Muddymatches.co.uk. And if they're after a geek, a goth, a golfer, a veggie or a vampire, there is a niche dating site out there.
