FOX NEWS - A study reported by Fox News Digital reveals that 57% of Gen Z, those aged 18-29, are open to non-monogamous relationships. This finding comes from a survey by Ashley Madison, where 40% of its new members in 2022 were from this age group. The survey highlights a trend towards greater acceptance of non-traditional relationships among younger people. Additionally, despite their comfort with non-monogamy, Gen Z members tend to keep their relationships and sexual life private, particularly on social media.

FOX13 - A new bill introduced in the Utah State Legislature would require online dating sites to post a safety warning if they don't do background checks on customers. "Give a warning to people that they don't necessarily do background checks and just safety reminders to people," said Rep. Angela Romero, D-Salt Lake City, who is sponsoring House Bill 352. A pop up with a warning and safety tips, if they have users in Utah.

FOX BUSINESS - Hinge launches Valentine's Day campaign to help parents pay for babysitters. Starting on Friday, Feb. 4, users will receive an opt-in notification for the holiday campaign at noon EST. Eligible users who have children and enable the campaign will get a chance at earning a $100 child care gift card if they comment on a potential match's profile. FOX BUSINESS - Oct 8 - Mobile app usage surged 25% in Q3 as people continue to work and find entertainment online during the coronavirus pandemic, according to App Annie. Google Play downloads increased 10% YOY to a total of 25B while iOS App Store downloads increased 20% to a total of 9B. The top most-downloaded apps were TikTok, Facebook, WhatsApp Messenger, Zoom, Google Meet, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Snack Video, Telegram and Snapchat. Apps that received the most consumer spend include Tinder, TikTok and YouTube. Consumer app spending also reached record highs amid COVID-19. On the App Store, spending increased 20% YOY to $18B in the Q3, and spending on Google Play grew 35% YOY to $10B.

The app is launching a VILF badge, which is a play on popular suggestive terms like MILF or DILF. However, in this case, OkCupid users can tack VILF badges onto their profiles to let all their potential dates know that they are voters and have a risqué sense of humor.

The idea for the revolutionary platform came to Gary Kremen while he was in the shower. "I thought it would be really interesting to use the Internet for relationships, and to do it right," he said. By 1994, he owned the domain Match.com. The website went live in April of 1995. In 1997 Match was sold for $7M to Cendant, a Connecticut consumer-services company. In 1999, IAC acquired Match.

Mark Brooks: Not quite true. Webpersonals was started by Andrew Conru in 1994, and sold to the company that would become Lavalife in Canada. Webpersonals was the first. Not Match.com. Dr Conru then went on to start FriendFinder in 1996.

FOX BUSINESS - Mar 25 - While many businesses have suffered dramatically under the coronavirus, its been a great week for Tinder, which saw an increase in first-time installations of the app in the U.S., according to Sensor Tower. First-time installs of Tinder were up 13% last week in the U.S. compared to the week of March 2, but were down 5% worldwide for the same comparison period. Bumble's downloads fell 10% in the U.S. and 11% worldwide, Hinge downloads fell 7% in the U.S. and 12% worldwide, and OkCupid fell 16% in U.S. and down 20% worldwide.

FOX BUSINESS - Mar 8 - Stitch, an online community for singles over the age of 50, was launched in 2014 and is headquartered in Sydney. The site offers three types of memberships: basic, community and community+. The basic membership is free, the community membership costs $60 per year and the community+ type, which allows additional profile browsing, starts at $15 per month. Currently, the app has 1K members. "Lonely people over the age of 60 can see the same health effects as smoking 15 cigarettes a day," said Andrew Dowling, the founder and CEO of Stitch.

FOX BUSINESS - Feb 14 - The loophole allows users to delete and remake their profiles, giving them a second chance to reappear as suggestions for people who previously "swiped left" on their profiles. One Twitter user wrote directly to Tinder on the social media site in April, saying, "Hi Tinder! I would like an explanation as to why a profile that I've swiped left on at least 10 times in the past keeps reappearing. I've tried to report it through the app to no avail." Tinder did not respond to the tweet.
