USA TODAY – May 7 – Co-founder of DateMySchool.com, Alexa built the dating website in 2010 with Jean Meyer for peers at Columbia University where they attended business school. Since then, the college- and alum-exclusive service has expanded to ~ 230K students in 2,800 colleges. The duo launched iPhone, iPad and Android applications last month.
"Once they've seen these people are just college kids they're much more open and receptive," Gobiel said. "You then know there won't be these creepy people you might find on other websites."

Date My School: Online Dating For College Students
ROUNDUP DAILY – Oct 31 – Date My School is an online dating website launched by two Columbia University business students two years ago. The site has since grown to 150,000 users at more than 1,300 four-year colleges and universities. Users must have a verified “.edu” email to join the service as it is exclusively for college students.

The site has 150K users at more than 1.3K four-year colleges and universities. The site is free for current students with a college email address. Alumni pay $9 a week.

NYULOCAL – Nov 2 – DateMySchool (DMS) expanded to 600 campuses nationwide. DMS only started last November, and has grown to 55K members.

DateMySchool Extends Access
EASTERN ECHO – June 13 – DateMySchool is a dating site that allows college students to connect with one another based on their universities, colleges & departments. DateMySchool.com went live in Nov 2010 exclusively for students of New York’s Columbia University. Within a week of their debut, the number of registered users surpassed 1,300, which is ~ 5% of Columbia University’s student population. In Dec 2010, DateMySchool.com expanded to include students from New York University. By February 2011, the Fashion Institute of Technology of State University in New York joined the fray and helped DateMySchool rocket up to 7K registered users. Most recently, DateMySchool.com has opened up to students at universities in Michigan and Washington. This expansion has helped the site surpass 20K registered users in 8 months.

NY TIMES – Feb 25 – Date My School, a site which just received $500K from private investors, went live for Columbia last November and New York University in December, restricting membership to those with .edu e-mail addresses at these two institutions. Within a week, Date My School had attracted ~ 1,300 users (5% of Columbia’s student population). It now has 7,000 users.
