Guardian Soulmates Dating Site Shutting Down

Posted on May 17, 2020

Guardian soulmates logo 2020THE ARMENIAN REPORTER – May 14 – Online dating site Guardian Soulmates is to shut this summer time after 15 years. The crew behind the site said that online dating has turn out to be "a very different place" compared to when it was first launched, with the rise of dating apps. "To keep up with the changing times we'd need to invest heavily in new technology and develop a new way of operating, and it's just not viable," they stated. Several Twitter customers expressed their unhappiness over the information of Guardian Soulmates' closure. "You had been the classiest act on the town"; "You ran your business with dignity! Unlike most dating sites. Goodbye and thank you so much!"

Guardian News & Media Legal Action Over ‘Database Infringement’

Posted on May 27, 2010

Guardian soulmates logo PRESS GAZETTE – May 27 - Guardian News & Media (GMN), the newspaper publisher, launched its action against businessman Daniel Yorke and his companies Dating Network and X Factor Online Dating after being contacted by three members of its Soulmates service asking why their profiles were appearing on other dating sites. GMN claims that by November last year the dating sites had more than 9,000 profiles in their databases that were identical to those in Soulmates. Use of the Soulmates profiles is a misrepresentation, the writ alleges, and calculated to lead people to believe GNM is involved in a commercial arrangement with the two dating sites, which it is not.
