Q&A With Molly Peckler, Founder & CEO Of Highly Devoted

Q: How did you get into the cannabis business?
A: A member of my family unexpectedly become a cannabis advocate, fighting to treat her young son's seizures. I'd read about cannabis' healing properties, but to see its power up close changed me forever.

Q: What was your vision for the company?
A: When I founded Highly Devoted, the only other businesses related to connecting over cannabis were a few stoner dating sites. I had a vision for creating a service and brand for smart, savvy, successful, well-respected people who used cannabis responsibly. Unfortunately, the stoner stigma runs deep, so pushing back against reefer madness is a constant battle.

Q: What obstacles and challenges have you experienced?
A: Google and Facebook are not welcoming to cannabis-centric brands, so digital advertising on mainstream platforms has been nearly impossible.

Q: How have you overcome these obstacles?
A: My best bet for getting the word out has been pitching stories to the media. Networking is also essential. I’ve realized that the best way to fight the stigma is by putting myself out there.

Q: What's been your greatest lesson learned?
A: Talk is cheap. Be wary of people who promise you the world without any action to back it up.

Highly devoted molly pecklerGANJAPRENEUR – Oct 28 – Molly Peckler is the creator of Highly Devoted, a matchmaking service and design consultancy for cannabis professionals. Molly Peckler: I originally got into the cannabis industry in 2014. I started working for a consulting firm that helped people get licenses in emerging markets. Before I did that I was a millionaire matchmaker. There are a lot of incredible smart passionate people out there who use cannabis. They want that to be reflected in their relationship and they don't want to feel like they have to hide that from someone. I have a database of white collar cannabis consumers from around the country and around the world. I also educate people who are interested in getting into this industry. I recently started talking to some venture capitalists who are very focused on all of the positive effects of cannabis. One of the next things that I'm focusing on is creating an educational platform for people who are curious, called Heightened University. It's all about education and getting people to understand the real story. I'm also releasing my first product, called Lit Kit for Love. It's a curated cannabis experience in a box for a couple to share to enhance sex and intimacy and pleasure.
