Over 2.2M Muslim Dating Site’s User Records Dumped
SOFTPEDIA – Jul 15 – Shadi.com and MuslimMatch.com, had their data dumped online in the past two weeks after hackers breached their systems. 2,035,020 Shadi.com user records that included user's email address and cleartext account passwords were released. MuslimMatch.com had data containing over 150,000 user account records leaked and over 790,000 private messages exchanged between users. The passwords included in this data dump were not in cleartext format, but MuslimMatch used MD5 to hash their content, an algorithm that can easily be broken.

MOTHERBOARD – July 1 – ~150K MuslimMatch's user credentials and profiles have been posted online, as well as over half a million private messages between users. Launched in 2000, MuslimMatch is a free-to-use site for people looking for companionship or marriage. After being contacted by a reporter, MuslimMatch went temporarily "down for maintenance" on Wednesday. Shortly after, the site was back, but stated it was taking a short break for Ramadan.
