92% of American Adults Prefer to Date People Who’ve Been to Therapy

Posted on October 26, 2023

Pure iconCNBC – A survey by dating app Pure found that 92% of American adults favor dating individuals who've undergone therapy. 70% are open to discussing mental health early in relationships, and half appreciate therapy being mentioned on a first date. Psychotherapist Esther Perel sees pros and cons to this new reality. In a June interview with Vanity Fair, she explained how the shift to more transparency about emotional health and the benefits of counseling have created a space where more people can develop greater self-awareness and prioritize self-reflection. At the same time, some people might hide behind "therapy speak" or use it to push others away, she added.

Pure, the Dating App ‘Where Anything Goes’

Posted on November 17, 2021

Pure iconNEW YORK POST – Pure started up in Portugal and has spread throughout Europe. Launched in 2013, the app has only just started marketing the app in the US as a site for "shameless dating," an online ad board where users can explicitly say what they're looking for right now. The brainchild of Ukrainian entrepreneurs Roman Sidorenko and Alexander Kukhtenko, the app currently boasts a half-million active, international users, mostly in cities like London, Paris, Berlin and Moscow. In the New York City area, Pure has 20K prospective daters. In April 2020, Olga Petrunina, who previously founded several IT companies in the travel and crypto industries, became the CEO of Pure. According to the company, "As a woman, Olga's main goal is to improve the female experience with online dating." The site is mostly a go-to for heterosexuals searching for casual sex.

There’s Still no Good Dating App for Non-monogamous People

Posted on February 7, 2020

Pure logo 2020MASHABLE – Feb 5 – One in five Americans have engaged in consensual non-monogamy. And yet, there are no good dating apps for non-monogamous people. Many of the apps used by the non-monogamous community are "trash" or solely for sex, said Steve Dean, online dating consultant at Dateworking.com, a dating coaching and consulting business. Dean, whose been non-monogamous for the past nine years, referred to one called Pure, as "Uber for sex." Feeld is another one that falls into the hooking up category. Then there is #open, an app that claims to be an inclusive community for any type of user. 94% of the app's 40K users report they prefer some form of open relationship, according to #open's cofounder Amanda Wilson. The most "mainstream" app that provides a tailored experience to non-monogamous people is OkCupid. In 2016, OkCupid added a feature for polyamorous couples. It subsequently replaced its "open relationship" status option with the term "non-monogamous." Dean said OKC is the best app for non-monogamous people right now, but technical changes have made it "virtually useless." This is because a 2017 change that filtered out unwanted messages had an adverse effect.

World Chess Launches Dating App Ahead Of World Championships

Posted on November 5, 2018

Mates logoSCROLL.IN – Nov 2 – After coming up with a suggestive and rather bizarre logo for the World Chess Championships, the organisers of the event have launched a dating app for chess players. In association with dating service app, Pure, World Chess have unveiled Mates, a mobile dating platform to help find "a chess playing partner near you." Users, by uploading their photo, can create a profile that will remain online precisely for an hour. If there's a "match," they can agree on a location to play chess. The profiles and conversations will disappear after an hour – a feature that Mates believes would motivate people to act quickly in order to meet for a chess date. The World Chess Championship is slated to take place at The College in Holborn, London, between the 9th and 28th of November.

Pure, The Modern Version Of AdultFriendFinder, Wants To Educate Women

Posted on December 10, 2015

Pure screenshot itunesREADRUSSIA – Dec 9 – "Pure" dating app is purely for sex. Users create a profile and they have only one hour to hook up. After an hour, their Pure profile self-destructs. Last week, Pure hired Elena Rydkina to be its sex evangelist. Pure, as many adult dating sites, lacks female subscribers and Ms. Rydkina is meant to lure them in with her teachings about being open about their sexual wishes. But there should also be a male version of Ms. Rydkina to educate the men about the importance of so many things such as: "It's a cool idea if both partners have an orgasm". Women are not the only ones in need of "teaching."

Is On-Demand Dating A Tinder Killer

Posted on August 22, 2015

On demand datingMASHABLE – Aug 18 – Clover, Whim, Pure and HowAboutWe's Tonight app offer on-demand functions which cut to the chase so users can aggressively get on each others' calendars. Clover just closed $2M in funding (bringing total investment to $4M). Close behind Clover is upstart Whim, which launched in LA in 2014. Markedly different from Whim and Clover is the unabashedly more hookup-focused Pure, which is so radical and in-the-moment in its "demand" nature, that there are actually no profiles or Facebook integration. Having raised 10 times less investment capital than Clover ($400K versus $4M), Pure is already cash-positive.
