Lolly – TikTok-Style Dating App

Lolly logo 2021YAHOO MONEY – Following the rise of TikTok, Lolly CEO Marc Baghadjian is looking to revolutionize online dating and compete with long-time industry leaders. The app combines social media and dating into one video-driven feed. Founded in Baghadjian's dorm room when he was a senior at Babson College, Lolly has managed to attract some major Silicon Valley investors. Baghadjian and his co-founder Sacha Schermerhorn have raised ~$2.5M so far from investors including former Apple CEO John Sculley and John Pleasants, the former president of Match Group's parent company.

Lolly – TikTok-style Dating App

Lolly logo 2021YAHOO FINANCE – Lolly is a new app using short video formats to get Gen Zers to find their bae. The app has raised $2.5M from some of the best investors in Silicon Valley, including Ron Conway. Millions of videos are watched on the platform a week, according to Lolly co-founder and CEO Marc Baghadjian.

TikTok’s New Developer Tools Allow Apps Logins With TikTok, Sound Sharing, and More

Tiktok snackTECH CRUNCH – May 8 – TikTok is expanding its integrations with third-party apps. The company introduced TikTok Login Kit and Sound Kit, that will allow apps on mobile, web and consoles to authenticate users via their TikTok credentials, build experiences that leverage users' TikTok videos and share music and sounds back to TikTok from their own apps. Once signed in, users can access their TikTok videos in the third-party app, potentially fueling entire new app ecosystems with TikTok content. Early adopters of the Login Kit include gaming clips app Allstar, anti-anxiety app Breathwrk, social app IRL, as well as dating and friend-making apps Snack, Lolly, MeetMe, Monet, Swipehouse and EME Hive.

Lolly logo 2021GLOBE NEWSWIRE – Mar 15 – Lolly is the brainchild of Babson College senior Marc Baghadjian and NYU graduate, Sacha Schermerhorn. Lolly was born out of their frustration with dating apps. Lolly allows users to showcase their personality through videos and find people based on common interests. Lolly has attracted the attention of John Sculley (former CEO of Apple), Ron Conway's SV Angel, John Pleasants (former President of IAC), Blair Shane (former CMO of Sequoia Capital), Jane Metcalfe (co-founder of WIRED), Scott Eagle (former CMO of E-Harmony), Mitch Lowe (Founding Executive at Netflix), among others. In keeping with its focus on the Gen Z experience, Lolly is also currently working with investor California Crescent Fund, a student-run venture fund located in Southern California, to assist in community building and growth.

You can see someone's dog, how they interact with their family, their personality, and quirks," says Angela Huang, Lolly's press associate. Like TikTok, Lolly is about showing, not telling. There's no room for bios or mandatory questions to answer, just space to create content.

Founders Sacha Schermerhorn and Marc Baghadjian, who are both in their early twenties, launched the app at the end of 2020.
